The first step entails filling in and signing forms. They are then taken back to ihss offices in person. In cases where individuals are registered, government officers will offer assistance in the remaining steps of the process. The remaining steps entail checking and scanning the fingerprints. The one registering later goes through a rigorous assessment of involvement in criminal activities in the justice department. A number of companies have agreed with county governments in their regions to provide registration services. They have set different registration fees.
